Dog Training in Wyckoff, NJ
Wyckoff is a township of quiet streets and small parks, and it produces a dog problem that is easy to live with for years before it isn't.
The dog is fine. Right up until something changes.
The dog that's fine until it isn't.
Wyckoff households tend to be settled. Same route every morning, same park, same neighbors, same dogs. A dog can be perfectly well behaved inside a routine that narrow and have learned almost nothing.
Then a baby arrives, or a contractor, or a second dog, or the family goes away for a week. And the dog that was fine turns out to have been managed rather than trained.
That is the call we usually get from Wyckoff. Not a crisis that built slowly. A dog that was fine on Tuesday and isn't on Wednesday. What we tend to find on those applications:
- Excellent on the known walk, unmanageable anywhere new
- Fine with the four dogs they know, reactive to every other one
- Sudden regression after a household change
- Separation distress that appeared with no warning
- A dog nobody thought needed training, because they never did until now
What we do.
The Pack Leader Residency
Four to eight weeks. The point is not a longer list of commands. It is building a dog that can handle a situation they haven't seen before, which is the thing a narrow routine never teaches. Go-home session, two-week follow-up, lifetime support.
Explore Prevention, not interventionThe Puppy Residency
Two to four weeks. Structured exposure to a wide range of dogs, people and environments while it is still easy to build.

Wyckoff's parks are small, which is useful. A dog that can hold composure in a five-acre park with people close by is doing harder work than a dog running loose on forty acres.
Wyckoff sits close to the Ridgewood section of Saddle River County Park, where the county's nearest off-leash dog run is at Wild Duck Pond.

“If you witnessed how it was previously, this is the closest thing to a miracle I've ever experienced…”
“For this reason, I have not and will not train my dogs anywhere else… I am eternally grateful to The Pack. Next puppy we get, our first stop will be The Maddie Ranch!”

Questions families ask
Our dog has never needed training. Why now?
Because a dog can be well managed without being trained, and the difference only shows up when something changes. It is not a step backwards. It is the first time the dog has been asked a question they do not know the answer to.
We're having a baby. When should we start?
Before the baby arrives, with as much runway as you can give us. A residency of four to eight weeks, then time at home to make the new rules the household's normal before the baby arrives. Starting after is harder on everyone.
Our dog is fine with our neighbor's dog and awful with every other one.
That is a socialization gap rather than an aggression problem, and the two get confused constantly. A dog that knows four dogs has not learned about dogs; they have learned about those four.
How long does it take?
Four to eight weeks for The Pack Leader Residency, two to four for The Puppy Residency. You will know which after the assessment.
What does it cost?
The Pack Leader Residency, our board-and-train program for adult dogs, runs four to eight weeks and is quoted after the assessment. That figure covers the residency itself, the assessment, weekly owner involvement during the stay, a go-home session before your dog leaves, a two-week follow-up and support for the life of your dog. Can our dog join The Canine Social Club after?
Graduates of our training programs can apply directly to The Canine Social Club, and every dog is approved individually. New dogs begin with an assessment day, subject to individual approval.

Residencies are limited each season. The application takes five minutes, and you will hear from us within one business day.
An application opens a conversation. Nothing is booked until we have spoken.
