Wyckoff's parks are small, which is useful. A dog that can hold composure in a five-acre park with people close by is doing harder work than a dog running loose on forty acres.
Wyckoff sits close to the Ridgewood section of Saddle River County Park, where the county's nearest off-leash dog run is at Wild Duck Pond.

Questions families ask
Our dog has never needed training. Why now?
Because a dog can be well managed without being trained, and the difference only shows up when something changes. It is not a step backwards. It is the first time the dog has been asked a question they do not know the answer to.
We're having a baby. When should we start?
Before the baby arrives, with as much runway as you can give us. A residency of four to eight weeks, then time at home to make the new rules the household's normal before the baby arrives. Starting after is harder on everyone.
Our dog is fine with our neighbor's dog and awful with every other one.
That is a socialization gap rather than an aggression problem, and the two get confused constantly. A dog that knows four dogs has not learned about dogs; they have learned about those four.

Graduates of our training programs can apply directly to The Canine Social Club, and every dog is approved individually. New dogs begin with an assessment day, subject to individual approval.
